The national Axe the Housing Act campaign agreed to welcome the new housing minister with a twitter storm, along with emails and letters, on Monday 25th July. Gavin Barwell MP was appointed this week, and the aim is to make an early impression on him with the following (suggested) message:
@GavinBarwellMP drop the damaging, unfair, unworkable housing act - secure homes and controlled rents for all #axethehousingact #socialhousing # housing crisis

Axe the Act campaigners are also writing to the new Minister putting the overwhelming case against the Housing and Planning Act - see Briefing. The Act's regulations still need to go through Parliament, and the Act cannot be enforced before these are passed, which is not expected before April 2017.
