Government have finally announced capital grants for backlog decent homes work, and it leaves a shortfall of £1.1bn, and 24 councils without any funding at all. This is outrageous.
It is now clear that - as we predicted - self-financing will not provide a sustainable financial future. Councils must oppose it before the Localism Bill forces them to accept a settlement which will leave hundreds of thousands of homes in disrepair. Find out if your council has been left out here ...
