Stop privatisation; improve existing and build a new generation of first class council housing
Opposition to Housing Bill gathers for 13 March national demo
Opposition is spreading fast. The House of Lords look likely to vote against the Housing and Planning Bill, blocking it in Parliament (for a while at least).
A united opposition is gathering for a national march against the Bill, stepping up pressure on MPs to oppose it too. 50,000 leaflet, along with posters and stickers have gone out in the last week. Prominent academics are among 74 skewering the Housing Bill - see Guardian - second letter.
Latest supporters include NUT Teachers and CWU trade unions, the Peoples Assembly, two London councils, joining the Green Party, John McDonnell MP and Momentum, GMB and Unison unions and tenants organisations of all tenures - see leaflet here. The National march for homes - against the Housing Bill on Sunday 13 March, assembles 12 noon at Lincoln's Inn Fields WC2A 3TL (near Holborn tube station) and marches to Parliament Square. A short accessible march assembles 1.30pm at Downing Street SW1A 2AA.
Collect leaflets, posters and stickers from Unite offices, 128 Theobalds Rd WC1X 8TN or for posting email info@defendcouncilhousing.org.uk.
