Stop privatisation; improve existing and build a new generation of first class council housing
Tenants take campaign to party conferences
A meeting on Wednesday 28th during Labour's conference will demand policies to defend secure tenancies, halt evictions and invest in council housing. Tenants, delegates and campaigners will hear Austin Mitchell MP, Gail Cartmail Unite, Heather Wakefield Unison, Eileen Short chair DCH, and Owen Jones, author: The Demonisation of the Working Class 6pm Wed 28th at Quaker Meeting House, 22 School Lane, Liverpool L1 3BT - see leaflet.

Defend Council Housing and the Housing Emergency are also calling on tenants, unions and housing campaigners to join a Housing contingent on the Manchester protest at Conservative conference 2nd October. See TUC and for transport see Right to Work.

3. Order new DCH newspaper: £20 per 100, £120 per 1000 to Defend Council Housing PO Box 33519 London E2 9WW
4. Check what's happening locally - get together tenants, trade unions, politicians and campaigners against stock transfer, sell-offs, or unnecessary demolition of council housing and to bring Arms Length Management back in-house
Demand MPs and Councillors reject use of fixed-term tenancies, means testing, up to 80% market rents and cutting access to council housing, during consultation on Council Landlord (Tenancy) policy.
5. Link with housing association,private tenants and campaigners locally to oppose evictions due to Housing Benefit cuts.
6. Use Shelter Rogue Landlords Campaign to ask local councils what they are doing about rogue landlords. And see their film calling on Mayor Boris Johnson to do more about overcrowding in London
